Stapleton Development Pool

Product: Coronado Box with Built-in Container Irrigation Reservoir
Location: Denver, Colorado

The Stapleton Development in Denver, Colorado asked Alison Promin's landscape architecture firm, Paradigm Affiliates, to solve a problem at one of their award winning swimming pools. The pool had incorporated channels to separate several built-in decks surrounding the pool. Because of the potential for accident if someone did not see the channel, Alison envisioned creating a simple barrier using flower boxes. This would help people notice the physical barrier and step over the channel.

The problem with using flower boxes is the constant need for watering. It was not practical to run drip tubing on top of the pool deck; and hand watering two or three times a day in the heat of the summer was not a viable option either. Alison elected to use Coronado Boxes from Tournesol Siteworks because of their built-in container irrigation system. This allowed the boxes to be filled at three or four day intervals instead of daily. The system incorporates a moisture sensor which only allows water into the soil when needed. This keeps the plants healthy and prolongs maintenance intervals.
